After going a few months without feeling any urge to listen to Vienna Teng, I suddenly started getting into her again. I’ve been putting on Dreaming Through The Noise on my iPod for the past few nights while I’ve dozed off to sleep. I forgot how fantastic a musician she is. 

“Ponchartrain”, the “epic” song on the album (clocking in at 6 minutes), is one of the most haunting pieces of music I’ve ever heard. Composed with one hand playing only the black keys on the piano, the other playing white, Teng symbolically represented the racial divide that occurred after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Be prepared to be left breathless.
